Lockheed Martin to supply Alaska radar system

Defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. on Monday said it received a $14.7 million contract for a second transportable radar system for the Air Force's Pacific Alaska Range Complex, the largest U.S. contiguous supersonic training area.

Under the contract, the company will provide the Air Force with an AN/TPS-77 radar system and related supplies, equipment and services which are designed to improve safety and surveillance in the 68,000 square miles (174,080 square kilometers) of training airspace over the 90,000-acre (36,000-hectare) facility.
