(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- Song-swappers at the University of California-Berkeley will get a legal download alternative at a discount starting next week.

RealNetworks signed a deal with UC Berkeley Friday that would allow students to subscribe to the network's digital music library at a cheaper rate.

For $2 a month, $8 less than the retail price, students can get unlimited access to more than 730,000 streamed songs on the RealNetworks library. Students can still purchase individual songs for 79 cents each without purchasing the monthly subscription.
