(The Daily Cardinal) (U-WIRE) MADISON, Wis. -- At first, it's hard to know how seriously to take the Swedish garage-punk band the Hives Sporting names like Howlin' Pelle Almqvist and Vigilante Carlstroem and wearing matching black and white suits, they seem easily written off as another neo-garage band with a gimmick.
Then again, the band did "Declare Guerre Nucleaire" -- the first track of 2002's breakthrough "Veni Vidi Vicious" -- and they play songs with enough fury that it's impossible to doubt their passion.
