`Federal Court can review own decision'

PUTRAJAYA, Tues. - The Federal Court ruled today that it had jurisdiction to review its own decision to uphold Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's corruption conviction.

Presiding Federal Court judge Datuk Abdul Malek Ahmad said that after considering the arguments and authorities, the court unanimously reached the decision that it had jurisdiction and "We find that Rule 137 has legislative effect," he said.
Rule 137 of the Rules of the Federal Court 1995 states that the court has inherent powers to hear any application to prevent injustice.
