(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- Being an international student in the post-Sept. 11 United States has become risky business. Students from abroad are discovering that getting an education in this country comes with a hefty price: Once you leave, you're going to have a tough time finding your way back.

University of California-Berkeley graduate student Zhirong Li learned this the hard way. A trip home to China last year threw her into the swirls of the bureaucracy of the post-Sept. 11 era. Li was stuck at home for 10 months, waiting for the U.S. Consulate to grant her visa.
