Midfielder Jeremy Mathieu and Tunisia striker Santos both scored Sunday as Sochaux downed Marseille 2-0 to climb up to 11th place in the French first division.
Having lost its previous two games, Sochaux attacked Marseille strongly from the outset, dominating the first half and taking the lead when Mathieu's 25-meter (yard) blast deflected off a defender and looped over goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.
Santos ensured the victory in the 62nd, racing clear of the defense before clipping the ball neatly past Barthez. He scored again moments later, only for the play to be ruled offside.
