Jeanne drifts over Dominican Republic

MIAMI, Sep 17, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Tropical storm Jeanne moved over the Dominican Republic with 65 mph winds Friday, ready to make a run at the Bahamas.

Jeanne was pounding the Dominican Republic and left two dead in Puerto Rico. Tropical storm Karl was following in its path.

Tropical storm Jeanne, expected to regain its hurricane status, was headed for southeastern Bahamas and a hurricane warning was posted for the islands.

At 11 a.m. EDT Jeanne's center was at latitude 19.5 north and longitude 71.2 west, inland over tbe northwestern Dominican Republic.
