Bird nest `hotels' easy prey for thieves

MUAR, Sun. - The abandoned and vacant commercial buildings here which have been converted into "hotels" for swiftlets in what was described as a lucrative trade are attracting more than just the bird nest-producing feathered species.

They are also luring thieves who have been "harvesting" the bird nests even before the operators of these "hotels" can get to them.
In recent weeks, several of these buildings have been broken into and thousands of ringgit worth of bird nests stolen.

However, no police reports have been lodged.
