Article: Organ donation still crucial among African Americans

It's not enough for African Americans to only talk about the issues that
affect them; it's necessary that they do something about it.

Illnesses such as prostate cancer, breast cancer and high blood pressure as
well as diseases such as HIV/AIDS are prevalent in the Black community as
problems that must be solved.

What about organ donation? A large problem in America but an even larger
one amongst African Americans and minorities.

According to Donor Services, an organization that offers the option of
tissue donation to families and provides donation awareness education, more
than 91,600 people in the U.S. are waiting for a life-saving organ. Half of
