They came. They went. But while they were here, Black firefighters from all
over the world came down to Los Angeles in force to make their presence
felt. Marching through the heart of the African American community last
week, the International Association of Black Firefighters and Stentorians,
paid homage to their fallen comrades with an honorary trek down Crenshaw
Blvd., in South Los Angeles.
In celebration of the IABPF 17th convention, the first held in Los Angeles,
400 Black firefighters, men and women, dressed in uniform, made the
half-hour processional from Leimert Park to West Angeles Cathedral, where a
memorial service was held ...
