NEW fathers are too frightened to admit that they are suffering
from postnatal depression because of a "macho culture" among males,
health experts have warned.
Growing evidence suggests that up to one in 14 dads may suffer
from the condition, although researchers may have underestimated the
problem because many men choose to keep quiet about it.
This week, in a bid to combat the problem, the first dedicated
helpline for fathers across the UK suffering from postnatal
depression will be launched. Scotland international footballer
Christian Dailly, himself a young father, will open the service.
