Article: Tetra Pak forced to quit WWF group over 'misleading' ads

The food carton multinational, Tetra Pak, has been forced to quit a group of environmentally friendly businesses over a "misleading" advertising campaign promoting its green credentials.

The company was told by the global environmental group WWF to resign from a scheme designed to protect the world's endangered forests.

Claims in Tetra Pak adverts were "vague and unverifiable" and in breach of the scheme's rules, WWF alleged.

For seven years Tetra Pak was a member of the 95+ Group set up by WWF for businesses committed to the responsible management of woodlands. Members of the group promise to try and buy timber from legal, verifiable and environmentally sustainable sources.
