Chevy Chase Savings Bank said yesterday it has agreed to acquire
the automated teller machines located in area Safeway stores,
picking up the service cut off by Perpetual Savings Bank when it
failed in January.
B.F. Saul II, owner of Chevy Chase, said the ATMs will become
functional again on or before April 17.
"This was a great service for area consumers and we are glad to
be able to pick it up," Saul said.
Safeway Inc. Senior Vice President Bill McDown agreed, saying
"our customers will be particularly happy to see this valuable
convenience restored."
The terms of the agreement between Safeway and Chevy Chase
were not disclosed.
