BACK in Borecelona, the Buffer has been meeting up with Ferran
Adria, the innovative Catalan chef whose El Bulli has regularly been
dubbed best restaurant in the world, albeit usually by desperately
fashion-conscious American food critics. Adria is the man who makes
lollipops out of beetroot and coconut soup topped with a cloud of
carrot.
When the Buffer had the (euros)135 dinner (great value at about 40
courses) last year at El Bulli, the best bit was the deep-fried
orange blossom wrapped in finger-lickingly-good chicken skin (you
can't take the boy out of the chip shop ). This year's encounter with
Senor Adria was not in the flesh but via a series of DVDs which come
with a Sunday ...
