THE Second Division is the only league to be seen in this summer.
Not only has it been consistently the most competitive league in
British football in recent times (in 2002-03 season only 11 points
separated relegation and promotion), but this season even some First
Division chairmen have been eyeing it with a suspicion of envy.
Partick, Gretna and Morton all have set-ups and supporter bases
which would not be out of place among the rump of the First Division,
while Raith, Ayr United and Peterhead are three others who retain
genuine pretensions of clambering up to such heights.
