Article: Glastonbury freebies cost BBC GBP70,000 COSTS: FESTIVAL

THE BBC spent almost GBP70,000 entertaining MPs and guests at this year's Glastonbury Festival, the broadcaster said yesterday.

While travel and accommodation costs were not covered, the total cost of providing tickets for guests, running the BBC's marquee and laying on hospitality at the long-running Somerset institution came to GBP68,000.

MPs received 10 premium tickets for the three-day event the world's largest greenfield and performing arts festival costing the BBC GBP255 per ticket. The beneficiaries were Labour MP Sion Simon, Conservatives Nick Herbert, Damian Green and Theresa Villiers and LibDem Jenny Willott.
