Article: Hong Kong Regulator Sees Value in Hedge Funds

HONG KONG (HedgeWorld.com) - The executive director of intermediaries and investment products for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission called hedge funds an "exciting product" at a conference on the outlook for the fund management industry in the Asian financial capital.

Alexa Lam devoted much of her address to hedge funds in particular, and she said that those "exciting" hedge funds ought to be available to the retail public. Such a declaration by a regulator usually precedes the qualification that there are certain "key areas of concern," and this speech obeyed that rule.
