NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - Global macro hedge funds drove the Hennessee Hedge Fund Index to a 1.92% gain in April, while long/ short equity managers saw their efforts far outpaced by rebounding equities indexes.

Year-to-date the Hennessee index, maintained by hedge fund investor advisory firm Hennessee Group LLC, is up 5.44%, still ahead of its benchmark indexes. But that gap is narrowing, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average earning more than the Hennessee's year-to- date return in one month - its 5.74% bounce in April brought the DJIA's year-to-date return to 4.81%.
