A Boom in city centre living is pushing up house prices in Hull.

This was the verdict today from estate agents, following research that property prices in the city are among the fastest-growing in England and Wales.

The latest figures from the Land Registry's House Price Index (HPI) show Hull had an average annual growth of 10 per cent, coming second to Blackburn, Lancashire.

According to estate agents, city centre redevelopment has created more choice in the lucrative young, professional market.

Equally, the large number of new developments - and their relatively high cost - has pulled up the average prices across the city.
