Bp And Health and Safety Executive (HSE) officials are
investigating fears that a Buncefield-type disaster could occur in
Aberdeen's harbour area if overtired oil workers fall asleep on the
job.
Concerns about safety at BP's Tullos depot in Torry were raised by
Aberdeen South Labour MP Anne Begg last night after being told that
workers at the tank farm feared their pattern of working was
disrupting sleep patterns to the extent that some were over-tired.
They work four weeks of normal shifts followed by three weeks on
call-out.
Tanks at the depot - around a quarter of the size of the
Hertfordshire establishment which exploded in December sending a pall
of black smoke over southern England ...
