This week, for the first time, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will propose letting Susie and Johnny buy fresh pepperoni pizza at their school cafeterias shipped in from a local pizzeria. They cannot do this now.

They can buy cheese pizza in their school lunchroom from a local pizzeria. They can purchase pepperoni pizza that was bought frozen and reheated in the cafeteria. But they never have been able to buy meat-topped pizza slices from Pizza Hut or Dominos or even the pizza joint down the road.
