It was to be the first glimpse of billionaire Ross Perot's
awesome technological prowess, a rally beamed around the nation by a
cluster of Earth-orbiting satellites, which would allow his
petition-crazed volunteers to not only see Perot, but talk to him.
Direct! Live! Via Satellite!
"Let's hear it from Ohio!" the would-be presidential candidate
shouted from the stage of the Central Florida Fairgrounds here, as
his video image shot through the uplink truck behind the stage, up
to the SBS 6 satellite, back down to Earth, up to space again, to
the Telstar 302 in orbit, and then to homes around the nation and
supporters at simultaneous rallies in five other states.
"Let's hear it from Ohio!" ...
