Leukaemia Research is one of the charities set to benefit from the
Press and Journal's Year of Giving. SUE RESTAN hears how the charity
has helped a Highland woman who was diagnosed with the condition
Caithness mother-of-three Jacqueline Farquhar was totally puzzled
when she suddenly started developing dark bruises for no apparent
reason.
At first she thought she must have bumped herself without
noticing, but the bruising became more severe.
"That was when the alarm bells started to go off. I went to my
doctor and he did a blood test.
"I got a phone call that night telling me to go to Raigmore
Hospital in Inverness, where they did a bone marrow test that showed
