The Aberdeen-Angus entry and the stockmen that brought them out
were praised by judge Colin Hutchings as the best in the world.
His champion was the four-year-old cow, Carlhurlie Gainsay from
Ray Grieve, who runs 70 cows at Lundin Links in Fife. The cow, with
calf at foot by the 15,000gn Blelack Eagle, was brought out by
Alistair Grieve who came to Carlhurlie in 1992 and since then the
herd has won three championships and two reserves at the Highland.
Reserve was another female, a two-year-old heifer from Orkney
breeder and breed president, Colin Davidson, Skaill, Sandwick.
