Columnist Nicola Barry went down to the seaside to take a look at
the situation for herself
Aberdeen Beach looked spotless yesterday morning, in the lukewarm
spring sunshine. Nothing but miles of golden sand, a beautiful, wild,
rugged landscape beneath a blue/grey sky - not a crisp packet in
sight.
Where on earth WAS all this rubbish they keep talking about?
After about 10 minutes of walking, however, I found what I can
only describe as a man-made eyesore, on our own doorstep, here on the
edge of the North Sea.
At the edge of the beach, I saw hundreds of yards of caging,
holding back rocks, swamped in litter - tissues, old ropes, fishing
lines, endless plastic, which is non-biodegradable ...
