As Britain adapts to having a new premier, a remote island
community has paid a belated tribute to one of his closest allies,
former Labour Party leader John Smith.
The John Smith Memorial Trust commissioned Hebridean Jewellery, a
Scottish gold and silver craft business on South Uist, to create a
silver Celtic lapel pin in his memory.
Mr Smith's widow, Baroness Elizabeth Smith, selected her favourite
from a range of designs offered.
The pin will be given to John Smith Fellows and Alumni who have
taken part in the John Smith Fellowship Programme.
