Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell yesterday announced a
minor reshuffle of his front bench team in response to Gordon Brown's
changes to Whitehall departments last week.
It includes key posts for two north Liberal Democrats.
Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey MP Danny Alexander has
been promoted to shadow work and pensions secretary, while Orkney and
Shetland MP Alistair Carmichael has moved from the post of shadow
transport secretary to become shadow Scottish and Northern Ireland
secretary. He replaces East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson, who has
been demoted to shadow spokeswoman on women and equality.
