Mobile phone records helped convince the jury of James' guilt.

After fishermen had recovered Mr Solheim's body, police did not know the dead man's identity until his worried mistress, Jean Knowles, told them she had received text messages from Mr Solheim saying he was at sea and his boat, the Izzwizz, had developed engine problems.

She identified the corpse but continued to receive texts from Mr Solheim's mobile phone for 36 hours after his body was recovered from the water.
