Massive thunderstorms have torn their way across the Westcountry.
Flood alerts were given in parts of Devon after spells of
torrential rain.
Black skies still hung over Plymouth at 9am yesterday morning with
high winds raging over Devon and Cornwall.
On Saturday night skies over the Westcountry crackled with thunder
and lightning until the early hours of yesterday morning, damaging
properties in Plymouth and Tavistock.
A bungalow in Edgcumbe Drive, in Tavistock, was struck by
lightning just before noon yesterday, causing damage to the chimney
stack.
The high winds and rain meant a premature end to an international
powerboat racing championship which was taking place in Westcountry
waters ...
