Article: St Austell folk were not asked

Thank you so much for printing the letters about the state of St Austell, with which I heartily agree. The root of the problem is that the people of St Austell have never been consulted as to the plan they would like for their redeveloped town centre.

In 2002, various plans were displayed in the town centre, but none of us was asked for our opinions on the different options. We trusted our council to make the right decisions.

Fast forward to March 2005 when the council passed the plans they are trying to impose on us. Letters of opposition have been completely ignored. Local architect, Alan Leather, produced full and inspirational plans in 2002, echoing the domes of the Eden Project.
