Article: MPs in call to extend air ambulance hours

Two Westcountry MPs are calling on health ministers to extend the flying time of the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Currently the air ambulance, which is run entirely by charitable donations, is in operation for only ten hours during the day.

Its hours are restricted because the paramedics who man it, along with the pilot, are paid by the NHS, and air ambulance managers say the NHS is unable to release the funds to extend their hours.
