Two Westcountry MPs are calling on health ministers to extend the
flying time of the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Currently the air ambulance, which is run entirely by charitable
donations, is in operation for only ten hours during the day.
Its hours are restricted because the paramedics who man it, along
with the pilot, are paid by the NHS, and air ambulance managers say
the NHS is unable to release the funds to extend their hours.
Now Julia Goldsworthy, Liberal Democrat MP for Falmouth and
Camborne, and Andrew George, Lib0Dem MP for St Ives, have written to
health ministers asking them to grant greater flexibility of funding
to the health managers, allowing the air ambulance to set up a ...
