Mike Bateson made a dramatic return to power at Torquay United
last night, vowing to do "whatever it takes" to restore the club's
fortunes.
Bateson has resumed control at the request of the directors five
months after selling the club to former chairman Chris Roberts.
His return, as originally revealed in the Western Morning News in
February, will also result in extra funds for the Gulls. He said: "I
received a call this morning from the board of directors, and they
asked me if I'd be prepared to come back in as chairman and inject
some money in, and I said I would do.
"They decided that the situation required a chairman with some
experience, I certainly have experience of being a chairman ...
