Article: New visitor centre for Boscastle

Boscastle has welcomed the opening of a new visitor centre which has finally opened its doors almost two and a half years after the original building was destroyed by floods.

The centre was almost completely washed away by the torrent of water that swept through the village in August 2004.

As an area which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, replacing the centre was put as a high priority by North Cornwall District Council, which runs the facility.

It was decided that the old site, next to the River Valency in the village car park, could no longer be considered a suitable.
