Article: How can they call cheese a junk food?

Let us give three cheers for cheese, it needs all the help it can get. Last week it became clear that when it comes to the new Ofcom rules on TV advertising targeted at children and the under-16s, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) defines cheese as a junk food. So suddenly cheese is an "unhealthy" food, along with burgers, crisps and some breakfast cereals, but not, apparently, diet coke.

Cheese is one of the great success stories of the Westcountry food industry.
