Article: Met Office leading way in combating climate change

Politicians from across the globe now often gather to exchange puzzled, sincere looks over the climate change conundrum.

When they do, chances are they will be clutching a weighty document penned, at least in part, by Westcountry-based scientists.

The recent United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) summit in Paris was a case in point.

Three years in the making, the three-volume report global leaders discussed was the work of hundreds of scientists from more than 130 countries. At least 2,500 expert reviewers looked over the draft versions.

Out of the 100 lead authors, ten are based at the Met Office in Exeter.
