Gipsy Moth IV, the historic sailing vessel, is close to completing
another round-the-world adventure.
The 53ft ketch is due to arrive back in Plymouth on Monday May 28
to mark the 40th anniversary of her maiden, record-breaking voyage
with Devon-born aviator and sailor Sir Francis Chichester at the
helm.
For years, Gipsy Moth IV had been slowly weathering into history
alongside the Cutty Sark at Greenwich, before Paul Gelder, editor of
the London-based sailing magazine, Yachting Monthly, championed her
complete restoration.
On September 25, 2005, she was able to fill her sails with Devon's
coastal winds once again and set sail from Plymouth as part of the
Blue Water Round the World Rally ...
