A devon business leader has called for people across the county to
rally behind their local village pub to ensure it stays open.
Tim Jones, chairman of Devon and Cornwall Business Council, said
many village garages were already lost and post offices were under
threat meaning in some cases, pubs were the last community hub of the
village.
His comments come as plans for the Toby Jug Inn, at Bickington,
have been approved following a four-year battle to keep it open which
looks to have been successful.
But while the future could now be bright for the pub following the
approval of new plans, it is not so rosy for other pubs.
