Article: Dog opens charity garden party

A garden party opened by a dog, has been hailed as a brilliant success after it raised more than pounds3,300 for charity. The event at Stokenham, near Kingsbridge, South Devon, raised the money for Dogs for the Disabled last Sunday. More than 300 people attended the event, which was opened by a black Labrador called Bruce, who had been trained to pull a ribbon, and Pat Holness from South Hams Radio. Bruce, a specially trained dog for the disabled, has become the closest companion to his owner, Helen Robertson. She organised the event to help other people benefit from similar assistance.
