For the past two years, I've been on a journey - a journey into the most colorful era of fly fishing's past.

On a whim, I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday by learning how to tie full-dress Atlantic salmon flies. What I knew about those flies would hardly fill a sentence: I knew they were colorful and 19th century salmon fishermen used them.

What I discovered about them would fill a volume - a heavy, thick volume packed with teeny-weeny print.
