Christ Church Cathedral received the most gaming machine money of
any New Zealand church group between 2005 and 2007.
The cathedral accepted $380,000 during that time to help pay for
its $3.7 million renovation.
Other beneficiaries of gambling money include the Salvation Army
Christchurch, which received $20,812, and its Hope Centre, which
received a further $20,000.
St Martin's Anglican Church in Lincoln Road was the beneficiary
of $37,485, which Vicar Ian Smith said was used to refloor the
church's gymnasium.
A recently released Department of Internal Affairs paper, Where
