Howard County voters, who declared open season on incumbents in
local elections two years ago, may soon get the chance to decide
whether to impose term limits on County Council members.
A small group of activists, led by council member Darrel Drown
(R-District 2), announced yesterday that they have gathered enough
signatures to put the question of term limits to a popular vote in
November.
"We need to open up the process and bring in new people," said
Drown, who is in the middle of his first four-year term. "I really
believe that it is the will of the people that we not have full-time
career politicians running government."
