Senior councillors have met with North Lincolnshire MPs to
discuss how best to oppose post office closures.
Councillors and MPs unanimously agreed to make official
representations to Post Office Ltd opposing all planned closures.
Scunthorpe MP Elliot Morley said he would be opposing the
proposed closure of Burringham Road and East Ashby post offices.
He said: "Post offices are a very important part of the
community, with a social as well as economic function, and that
community element needs to be recognised too.
"I understand a balance has to be struck, but the community has
to be a priority.
"I am also very keen to see post offices being given the
opportunity to offer more services."
