SUNOL -- Five men were arrested early Friday morning after
allegedly breaking into the Sunol Valley Golf Club and staging a
"demolition debry" with the club's golf carts.
All five were later caught at the golf club and arrested, Alameda
County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said. They ranged in age from 17
to 20 and were from Fremont and Hayward.
In all, Nelson said, the golf course, at 6900 Mission Blvd.,
sustained about $30,000 in damage, and all 35 golf carts had been
used in a "demolition derby."
At least one cart was recovered from a lake, he said.
"They went in there and took all the golf carts," Nelson said.
"They were running them into each other and the lake."
