It's a sure sign of the times, that concrete bunkerlike building
in Purcellville, where a longtime manufacturer is moving out and a
health and fitness club is moving in.
Out: Creative Urethanes Inc., which has been churning out
urethane products, including roller-skate and skateboard wheels,
since 1970. The family-owned business is heading to Winchester,
largely because its lower-wage workers cannot afford to live in
Loudoun County.
In: Purcellville Sports Pavilion, which is planning to renovate
and expand the Creative Urethanes factory in time for a spring
opening. The club promises indoor batting cages, basketball and
racquetball courts, and separate gyms for women, children and
seniors.
