Article: Secondary schools still lag behind, say Ofsted reports

SECONDARY schools in Darlington are not performing as well as some elsewhere in the region, according to latest figures.

During a recent audit, comparisons were made between the 2000 Ofsted inspections for all schools in the country.

Although, on average, primary schools in Darlington performed much better than those in the Stockton, North Tyneside and York areas, secondary schools did not.

The schools were tested on standards, quality of education and school climate, including pupil behaviour and attendance.

Primary schools in the town performed better than the national and regional average in all three categories.
