A WOODWORKER has won a prize after she upholstered a Queen Anne
armchair using 15 pairs of secondhand jeans.
Emma Sayer, 22, from Lunedale in Teesdale, received the 100 prize
after coming top of the class on a furniture upholstery course at
Hereford College of Technology.
Miss Sayer, an employee of Anthony Nixon Furniture, in Barnard
Castle, was inspired to make the chair after seeing a similar idea in
a lifestyle magazine.
The chair, which is on display in the Anthony Nixon showroom, is
now going to be exhibited at the Ideal Home Exhibition at London's
Earl's Court and at the Furniture Show at the National Exhibition
Centre, in Birmingham. Miss Sayer then hopes to be able to keep it.
