FIRE chiefs are urging people to check smoke alarms and tumble
dryers in a bid to stamp out domestic blazes.
A hard-hitting national campaign - Push the Button, Not your Luck -
was launched this week urging people to check smoke alarm batteries
once a week.
About 80 per cent of the population has smoke alarms fitted, but
figures show that many of these alarms are not functioning due to
flat or missing batteries.
