Article: New Machines Allow Deaf to Call AIDS Agencies in Private

Deaf people with AIDS now have a guarantee of privacy that hearing people stricken with the disease have always had.

Nearly 30 local agencies that provide services for people with AIDS recently installed TTYs in their offices that will let the deaf communicate with their organizations directly.

The $400 machines were a gift to the agencies purchased with a Ryan White grant by Deafpride, an advocacy group for the deaf.
