CLEVELAND Fire Brigade has launched an initiative aimed at getting
the fire safety message across to youngsters.The idea came from
Thornaby Fire Station watch manager Marti Pottinger, who created
stories about a young girl called Lilly and her family to teach
children about fire safety and the dangers of chip pans.The campaign
includes stories featuring characters such as Fierce Freddie the
Frightening Fryer and Super Sally Smoke Smeller, as part of the Ban
the Pan Forever campaign.Illustrator Sarah PrestonBloor designed the
characters, and crew manager Alan Brown helped with the naming of the
