A QUEST to trace the life of a Northern saint took youngsters on a search either side of the Scottish border.Members of the Mid-Durham Projects Club, young researchers with special needs, carried out the 18month study to discover the background life story of St Cuthbert.The early medieval saint was brought up as a shepherd boy in the Scottish borders, before finding God in a vision while tending his flock.It led to him joining the monastery at Melrose Abbey, and subsequently at Holy Island, where he went on to become Bishop of Lindisfarne, and, following his death, the inspiration behind the creation of the Lindisfarne Gospels by the monks who survived him.The anniversary of his death, on ...
